Hanmer Springs is an ideal destination for a weekend escape or holiday to relax at Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa, go biking, carve the slopes on the ski field or experience the variety of other activities that are available.  

Check out some suggested itineraries to help you plan your next holiday to Hanmer Springs.

Hanmer Springs winter weekend escape – 2 days 

Day one:
Arrive in town and check in to your accommodation.  
Change into your ski and snowboard gear and head up to Hanmer Springs Ski Area.  Hit the slopes from dawn to dusk and enjoy a full day on the mountain.  
After a day of skiing, relax your muscles and dip into the thermal pools at Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools.  
Once you are fully relaxed, get ready for a delicious meal in town.   
 
Day two:
Book a spa treatment and treat yourself for some rest and relaxation choosing from the body treatments, facials and massage therapies available.  
After your soothing treatment, grab a tasty lunch at Amuri Estate Olive Grove where you will take a tour of the olive grove, drink a glass of wine, and sample a delectable antipasto platter.  
In the afternoon, take a stroll on the village streets to go shopping for gifts, jewellery, clothes and more.  
 

Alpine Pacific Triangle (Hanmer Springs, Kaikoura, Waipara) – 3 days

Day one:
Begin your journey in the Waipara Valley and go for a winery tour at one of the many wineries in the region to choose from: Pegasus Bay Winery, Mud House Winery and Café or Waipara Springs Winery and Café.  
Hit the roads and drive to Hanmer Springs in the evening.    
 
Day two:  
Spend the day exploring the alpine village and go golfing, biking or fishing in the morning.  
Visit the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa in the afternoon and grab a bite to eat in town after a relaxing soak.  
Spend the night in Hanmer Springs.
 
Day three:
Pack up your stuff and drive along State Highway 70 to Kaikoura (total drive time is about 1.5 hours).
Spend the afternoon with some of Kaikoura’s local residents – go on a whale watching tour, kayak with seals or swim with the dolphins.  
Have a crayfish dinner and spend the night in Kaikoura
